-The TRW Group, which focuses on active and passive safety systems, recently placed particular emphasis on manufacturing electronics safety system products in China through TRW Automotive Components (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (TACS), which is its wholly owned subsidiary. The facility manufactures antilock brake systems (ABSs), electronic stability control (ESC) systems, electric power steering systems (EPSs), airbag ECUs, side impact sensors and other products.

-In September 2014, TRW announced it has entered into a definitive agreement with ZF Friedrichshafen AG (ZF) under which ZF will acquire all outstanding shares of the Company. In May 2015, the Company completed the acquisition of U.S.-based TRW for approximately USD 12,400 million. The integration of TRW into ZF Group made TRW as Active & Passive Safety Technology Division of ZF Friedrichshafen AG.

Oct. 1995 TRW and Fawer Automotive Parts Co., Ltd. jointly established FAW-Kelsey Hayes Automobile Chassis Systems Co., Ltd. in Changchun City, Jilin Province, with TRW providing 60 percent of the capital. 
March 1996 TRW established TRW (Suzhou) Automotive Electronics Co., Ltd. in Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province. The joint venture is owned 75 percent by TRW.
July 1997 TRW and SAIC established a 50-50 joint venture, Shanghai TRW Automotive Safety Systems Co., Ltd. (STASS), in Shanghai.

April 2004 TRW and Fawer Automotive Parts Co., Ltd. jointly established TRW FAWER Commercial Vehicle Steering (Changchun) Co., Ltd. (TFCVS) in Changchun City, Jilin Province, with TRW providing 50 percent of the capital.  
Aug. 2004 TRW System Consulting Services Shanghai Co., Ltd. was established as the Asia Pacific headquarters of TRW.

Mar. 2010 The Company established a joint venture, TRW Dong Fang (Xi'an) Safety Airbag Inflator Co., Ltd., with China's Xi'an Dong Fang Group Co., Ltd to set up an airbag inflator and seat belt pretensioner manufacturing facility in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province.
2013 TRW's second Global Technical Center opened in Anting, Shanghai. The center covers an area of 32000 square meters,
being one of the largest in scale among its worldwide facilities.
Sep. 2014 TRW announced it entered into a definitive agreement with ZF Friedrichshafen AG (ZF) under which ZF would acquire all outstanding shares of TRW. The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2015. TRW will be a separate business unit of ZF.
Feb. 2015 TRW divested engine valve business to Federal-Mogul's Powertrain division for USD 385 million.
